Friction Connectors

A Technic Friction Connector is a cylindrical pin with a bushing in the center and a notch and lip at both ends. When placed in a hole, such as in a Technic Beam, the connector was held laterally in place by the center stop bush and the lip. The original version, introduced in 1982, has made from a soft plastic (possibly nylon) and had ribs that provided a tight enough connection to discourage rotation. Later versions had a slit in the center of the connector that compressed causing the ends to expand. Later elements were modified to include various cross axle connections.
